Wastewater Lab

McAllen Wastewater Laboratory was created in 1983. WW Lab primary function is to run all analysis required by the WWTP’s TCEQ permits and communicate these results with the WWTP operators, so they may make any adjustments, if necessary, to stay in compliance with parameters set by TCEQ. Another important function of the WW Lab is they analysis samples for the pretreatment program. Over 1000 restaurants and industrial businesses are analyzed yearly totaling approximately 4000 samples a year to make sure they stay in compliance with the federal, state and local laws.

WW Lab every year performs a Proficiency Testing (PT) for each parameter that is analyzed “in house”, this study determines the performance of the laboratory for these specific parameters and results of testing will be reviewed by TCEQ.
